An Energy Supply Pricing Option for Commercial and Industrial Customers

The New Jersey Board of Public Utilities is providing Commercial and Industrial (C&I) customers with an additional energy supply pricing option. Customers currently on Basic Generation Service-Fixed Pricing (BGS-FP), a seasonally differentiated, regulated rate, can choose Basic Generation Service-Commercial and Industrial Energy Pricing (BGS-CIEP), an hourly, market-based, energy price. Under BGS-CIEP, energy prices fluctuate hourly, based on prices set by a marketplace managed by the PJM Independent System Operator. All Commercial and Industrial customers have the right to choose a Third Party Supplier (TPS) for their electric supply, at any time, subject to current switching rules.

Effective June 1, 2007, all TGS rate class C&I customers, and AGS and MGS rate class C&I customers with a Peak Load Share (PLS) equal to or greater than 1,000 kW taking BGS service are mandated to be charged the BGS-CIEP rate. Other C&I customers can elect BGS-CIEP pricing, at their option. All customers have the ability to switch their energy supply to a TPS consistent with current switching rules.

Because market prices vary beyond Atlantic City Electric's (ACE) control, ACE cannot predict whether BGS-CIEP, BGS-FP, or a competitive TPS offering would be best for you. Consider your current service, your usage, your budget, and the marketplace to make informed decisions about your electric power needs. It is your choice.

C&I customers in the MGS and AGS rate classes with a PLS of less than 1,000 kW can choose BGS-CIEP pricing by submitting the form below. You will still have the ability to select a competitive TPS at any time, subject to current switching rules. However, if you elect BGS-CIEP, you will not be eligible for BGS-FP for the period of 6/1/2007 through 5/31/2008.
